Cybersecurity experts from Check Point Research have uncovered evidence of hackers utilizing OpenAI’s ChatGPT for malicious purposes. Since its public release in December, ChatGPT has been touted as a revolutionary technology, with its capabilities in natural language processing and conversation impressing many.

Check Point’s research has revealed that hackers have also taken notice of ChatGPT’s potential and have begun experimenting with using the technology to design and execute malicious code.

The research team discovered that even less experienced cybercriminals are able to use ChatGPT to create malware, raising concerns about the potential for AI-powered hacking tools in the future. Discussions on hacker forums have revealed that individuals are actively testing ChatGPT to replicate malware and one hacker, known as USDoD, even admitted to using the technology to develop a multi-layered encryption tool.
