Samsung Galaxy often gets several nifty features, which are not available for most Android phones. For example, Dual Messenger allows you to run two instances of the same messaging app so you can use two different accounts.
Since it’s a native feature, you don’t need any third-party support for cloning apps. Let’s take a closer look at the Dual Messenger feature and how it works on Samsung Galaxy phones.
What is Dual Messenger on Samsung Galaxy phone?
The Dual Messenger feature allows you to run two instances with two different accounts of the same messaging app. It allows you to install a second copy of the application that runs independently. With it, you can clone apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Snapchat and some others without compromising any features.
Dual Messenger is a blessing when you want to keep your personal and professional messaging profiles separate. However, you will need to follow a process to set it up and use it.
How to use Dual Messenger on a Samsung Galaxy phone
To use Dual Messenger, you will need to have the messaging app installed on your phone. After that, you can use the Dual Messenger feature to install a second copy of the app. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Step 2: Scroll down to visit Advanced features and select Dual Messenger.
Step 3: You will find all supported apps (that can be cloned) under Available apps. Flip the switch next to the application you want to clone and select Install when prompted to install a second copy of the application.
After installing the second version of the application, you will find both copies of your applications in the application drawer. The second application will have the Dual Messenger symbol on the lower right side of the icon, which will make it easier for you to identify it. When you open the second application, you will see the same Dual Messenger symbol in the lower right corner of the application loading screen.
You can launch the cloned application and start using it with your second account. Similarly, you can repeat the same steps above to clone more messenger apps on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
Use a separate contact list for the secondary app
If you want to manage your home and work profile separately, Dual Messenger also allows you to keep two separate contact lists for both versions of the apps. Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Launch the Settings application on your phone. Go to Advanced Features and tap Dual Messenger.
Step 2: Enable the switch next to ‘Use separate contact list’.
That’s it. You will be able to keep separate contact lists for the secondary applications.
Manage contacts for the secondary application
To add, delete and manage contacts for the cloned applications, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Open the Settings application on your phone, navigate to Advanced Features and select Dual Messenger.
Step 2: Go to ‘Use a separate contact list’ and tap Select contacts.
Step 3: Tap the Add button in the top right corner to access your contact list. Select the contacts you want to add to the list and tap Done.
Step 4: After that, you can manage the contact list for secondary apps by adding or deleting contacts.
How to disable Dual Messenger on a Samsung phone
If you no longer intend to use the secondary app, disabling Dual Messenger is just as easy. Here’s how you do it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your phone, go to Advanced Features and select Dual Messenger.
Step 2: Turn off the switch next to the cloned app. When prompted to confirm your choice, tap Uninstall. You can choose to keep or delete the app data while deleting the cloned version of the app.
Alternatively, if you have cloned multiple messaging apps on your phone, you can also delete them all at once. To do this, tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper right corner and select Delete all my data.
Select Delete when the message appears.
That’s it. Your secondary application will disappear. Deleting the cloned application will not affect the primary or main application in any way. However, since Dual Messenger clones your existing apps, deleting the main app will also delete the cloned app from your phone.
The best of both worlds
Being able to run dual messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram allows you to manage your personal and professional profiles with ease. We had no issues using two separate WhatsApp accounts as both apps worked perfectly fine.
