Reminder: Who is My AI?
My AI is a chatbot developed by Snapchat that uses artificial intelligence capabilities to interact with users on the platform.
It is designed to respond to messages, send Snaps, and, more recently, generate images based on photos sent by users.
My AI is powered by artificial intelligence models ChatGPT and GPT-4, enabling advanced processing and interpretation of images.
How to Receive Snaps from My AI?
Receiving Chats
A few months ago, in this article, we already mentioned My AI and how this chatbot was exclusively available to Snapchat+ users. Fast forward to June 2023, a little over 2 months later, all Snapchat users now have access to the basic version of My AI.
My AI now appears at the top of your Snap chat thread (as if the conversation is pinned) and you cannot remove it. So why not try talking to it? To chat with the AI, it’s as simple as chatting with your friends:
- Click on the My AI chat thread.
- Compose your message.
- Send it.
- My AI responds instantly.
As a regular Snapchat user, you can continue to send photo snaps, chats, emojis, stickers, and even voice messages, just as you would with your friends. (Note: Voice messages are not yet understood by the AI)
Receiving Photo Snaps
Receiving photos from My AI is a different story. If you don’t have a Snapchat+ account (the platform’s paid subscription), you cannot receive this type of snap.
You can send photos, but My AI will respond in the form of a chat message.
If the platform follows the same approach as with the chat feature, a bit of patience is required. In a few months, you should be able to access it for free.
For Snapchat+ users, using My AI Snaps is straightforward. Send a Snap photo to the My AI chatbot, following the same process as sending Snaps to your friends. You will receive a notification from My AI based on your notification settings.
Based on the analysis of your Snap, My AI will send you a response in the form of a Snap. However, it’s important to note that the AI’s interpretation of images is still being improved.
Just like in regular conversations with friends, you have the option to save the Snaps sent by My AI in the chat or take a screenshot.
Pro tip: My AI doesn’t always respond with a Snap; sometimes it provides a text response to your Snap.
How My AI Can Send Photos?
It’s quite simple. Snapchat’s AI analyzes the components of your snap (this currently doesn’t work with imported images from your gallery) and uses them to generate an image that logically responds to your snap.
My AI utilizes AI image generation to accomplish this.
